Chillfest – De-stressing and Relaxation Afternoon – 20th June with Aromatherapist (Karina) and Yoga Teacher (Katie)

Calmspaces and Yoga with Katie are going to be offering an afternoon of De-stressing & Relaxation at Cheltenham Holistic Health Centre in Pittville, on the afternoon of June 20th.

This total Chillfest will incorporate some gentle yoga, an intro to aromatherapy, sniffing and playing around with essential oils and formulating your own personal blend to add to an inhaler, making up your own small bottle of aromatherapy oil and learning how to give yourself (or a partner) a lovely, relaxing hand and arm massage. The session will end with yoga nidra to fully ground you, as you float off amidst Katie’s calming words, aromas & candlelight.

2pm: Welcome with herbal teas

2.15pm: Gentle yoga with Katie

3pm: Intro to aromatherapy with Karina. Includes looking at some of the most popular essential oils for relaxation, ways in which to use essential oils in your daily life & making up a custom made inhaler blend for you to take home

3.30pm Tea break

3.45pm: How to blend essential oils with Karina. We look at some base oils such as Sweet Almond and Grapeseed and make a personalised aromatherapy blend. You will then learn how to give yourself (or a partner) a simple arm and hand massage, incorporating acupressure points to relieve tension (with the oil you made and you can take the remainder home with you.)

5pm: Yoga Nidra with Katie

5.30pm: Workshop ends and you float home to r-e-l-a-x for the evening!

The cost for this afternoon workshop is £40 per person if you book before 10 June 2015; £45 thereafter. Transcendental Meditation (TM) workshop weekend 21/22/23 March 2015meditating

Transcendental Meditation was brought from India to the West in 1959 by the revolutionary meditation teacher Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.   Although it may sound like a complex technique to learn, TM is actually simple, natural and effortless to practice.  It’s also very easy and enjoyable to learn.  You don’t need to be in the mood for TM in order to meditate and feel its benefits.  You don’t need to be experienced in other meditation techniques or spiritual practices, no concentration or visualisation is necessary, you don’t need to sit in a yoga posture to meditate, you don’t even need to be in a silent place; all you need is somewhere to sit comfortably for 15-20 minutes – even a train, bus, plane, park bench – and you can enjoy TM!

Learned by more than 6 million people worldwide, 650 scientific research studies on TM show benefits such as improved sleep, improved memory, concentration and energy, reduced anxiety and depression, clearer thinking and reduced use of alcohol and tobacco.It’s taught in 4 sessions over a weekend and the first course at CHHC begins on Saturday 21st March.  The Saturday session is a one-to-one personal instruction which lasts for about and hour. You’ll be shown how to meditate and have the opportunity to experience TM straight away.  Then you’re asked to meditate at home and come back on Sunday 22nd March for two group sessions: the first from 10am-12pm and the second from 4pm-6:30pm.  In these sessions you’ll learn more about how the technique works and also discover how to know if you’re meditating correctly.  We then have a follow-up session on Monday 23rd March from 7-9pm.  This is a refresher session and an opportunity to share your experiences and learn more about how to get the most out of TM.  There are also group meditations at these sessions which are hugely enjoyable.

The course is offered by The Meditation Trust charity whose group of fully qualified, highly experienced and enthusiastic teachers offer expert instruction in this simple, effortless meditation.  Our teacher for the Cheltenham area learned TM 29 years ago, qualified as a teacher 23 years ago and has individually taught 1000 people this remarkable meditation technique.

Once you’ve completed these sessions you’ll have a valuable skill that lasts for life!

New Yin Yoga class Friday evenings – 14th November Free!

Exciting news; a new Yin class at Cheltenham Holistic Health Centre, Fridays 6:15 – 7:30. The first class is on the 14th November and will be free! There will then be a four week block from 21st November – 12th December. £30 for all four classes (£7.50 per class), or £9.00 to drop in. No need to book.

A new addition to our monthly gong bath. This time, you have the option of coming to an earlier Kundalini yoga session at 5pm too.

The class will be held from 5.00pm – 6.30pm with a short break before the gong bath for those who are attending both, and to allow those who are only coming for the Gong Bath to arrive and settle in.

The gong bath will run after the Kundalin yoga class so if you are coming to just the Gong session then please turn up promptly by 7pm and we will be ending at around 9pm

David Behrens, our homeopath, is running a new 3 week meditation course starting on both August 5th and September 9th, 10.30-11.30am.

David has 27 years experience living and teaching Mindfulness Meditation & Yoga in India. He is also a regular course teacher for the NHS Recovery Colleges for Mental Health in Gloucestershire.
