What is Zumba?
A fun Latin-inspired dance fitness class suitable for all levels. An hour class can burn up to 1,000 calories.
What happens in a Zumba class?
Zumba is different to any other music fitness or aerobics class. Rather than a regimental set of repeated moves, the movements change with each section of the music. For instance the introduction, chorus, instrumental and finish. This variation and the vibrant music make for fun fitness classes.
There is no need to remember all the steps, just have a wiggle and a giggle! We start with a simple warm-up and after a brief intro to each track move to the music. There are a mixture of tempos to provide a full work-out. We end with a cool-down track and a track to stretch the whole body. And before you know it an hour has flown by! £4 a class.
What is Zumba Gold?
A gentle alternative with the same Latin-inspiration for the more mature among us and those returning to fitness after an injury.
What happens in a Zumba Gold class?
Zumba Gold is similarly focused on the music, just as regular Zumba classes. Again, there is no need to remember steps, just have a wiggle and a giggle! Everyone can choose to move at their own level and there are various options to the Zumba movements.
We start with a simple low impact warm-up and after a brief intro to each track with previews to key moves; we continue moving to the music. We stay with a relatively steady tempo, although a mixture of music styles. We end with a balance track to help maintain posture and a track to stretch the whole body. Who says Zumba is a young persons’ fitness class?! £4 a class.
